Dome Camera

A Dome Camera is basically a board camera built into a protective dome housing. These camera types are small, low profile. They can be used inside or outside, for home or by business including retail stores, casinos and restaurants for surveillance purposes.

The purpose of the dome is to protect the camera as well as make the presence of a security camera less noticeable. Even if someone sees the dome and knows there is a camera behind it they still will not know if the camera is moving or fixed or in what direction the camera is pointed.

These cameras are very often used for CCTV (closed circuit television) surveillance systems but can be included in most camera systems. They come in all sizes, and are available in high resolution, infrared , wide dynamic, outdoor weatherproof, and vandalproof models.

There is also a PTZ (pan tilt zoom) version available that you can control either by computer software, a joystick or a remote control.

Mini versions of these cameras are a smaller, even less noticeable camera. They can be very economical and easy for do it yourselfers to install.
