Motion Activated Security Cameras, Security Systems and Lights

Motion Activated Security Cameras

Why install a motion activated camera? You may have noticed, that in some circumstances, continuous day in and day out monitoring of an area with a security camera is not necessary. For example when you are monitoring an area that has very little activity you don't really need footage of an empty room but, when there is activity you want your camera to automatically and instantly begin working. In these circumstances installing a security camera with motion sensors is the perfect solution.
A motion sensitive camera is especially helpful in areas where motion is

a definite sign of intrusion. Some examples of this are places in a home or business that are off-limits to others. Near your doors and windows at night, a cabin or second home... or maybe even outside your teenagers windows. A motion detector camera will turn on and film the activity and will make it possible to identify them.

Advantages
There are three major advantages to installing a motion detecting camera:

1. Less storage space to store video images. Keep in mind that the higher the quality and resolution, the more space you will be using for storage.

2. Less time when viewing your footage to find activity. Without it you will be spending a lot of time viewing hours of footage searching for any activity.

3. Conserves power. This is especially important if you are using batteries as a power source.

In addition to having a motion activated spy camera, it is helpful to have an alert that will call you and allow you to listen in on what is happening if an activity is detected.

motion sensor outdoor lights Motion Sensors

A motion sensor indicates when movement is detected outside or inside your home or office. Motion Sensors are easy to set up and use. They can be used as an alarm to warn you of intruders or they can be used to activate lighting, so you and your guests can walk safely outside or inside yoru home at night. The light feature also prevents potential intruders from being able to sneak up at night to a darkened home. If you are using one for outdoors make sure it comes with a weather-resistant case to protect the sensor from the elements. Also make sure you purchase one with a locking case to prevent anyone from tampering with the batteries.

Motion Sensitive Security Systems

Why have a security system with a motion detector or multiple detectors? Maybe you would like your alarm system to go off if it detects motion. In this case a security system with a motion sensor is a perfect idea. They not only set off your alarm but will let an intruder know that his presence is obvious. Motion Detectors can cover large areas and multiple points of entry. There are some that are pet proof - which allow you to have a pet moving around the house without setting off the alarm.

Why install motions sensor lights? You can also have motion sensors that trigger lights that illuminate an area. These motion detector floodlights operate only when needed, and stay on for as long as you program them to. This type of lighting improves safety and security and also is an energy saver. They are easy to install because they replace any other outside light. If you need lighting in an area that does not have electricity there are battery operated and solar powered motion activated lights available. These lights also give you and your family a well-lit path.

Motion Sensitive Driveway Alarms
Driveway Alarm Systems basically consist of sensors that are set up along your drive way, or any area that you would like to monitor. An alarm is triggered by the sensors when it senses someone approaching. More on driveway alarms.

A combination of any or all of these motion triggered features will not only add to your security but will cut electricity cost significantly.

Did You Know?

Motion Sensors come with different sounds and features.

When a motion sensor or detector senses anything moving in the area it covers, it will sound off an alarm. The alarm can be a siren, voice warning. They can also turn lights on and off, set off a siren and/or flashing light, and/or voice warning. There are even ones that will make the sound of a barking dog

Some motion detectors that have the barking dog feature, let you set off the barking dog sound at any time with a remote. This would be perfect to use if you're laying in bed and think you hear a sound.
