The National Crime Prevention Council

introduced America to McGruff the Crime Dog and has proven to be one of America’s most effective forces enabling citizens to assist the law enforcement in preventing crime. Prior to the 1980s, most people didn’t believe that they could play a role in preventing crime; everyone left it to law enforcement to protect them. Today— people everywhere understand that all Americans, regardless of age, position and capability can and must take action to prevent crime!NCPC was founded in 1982 and soon became the nation’s focal point for crime prevention, and have proven themselves very effective in helping America achieve its lowest crime rate in more than 30 years. Their websitehttp://www.ncpc.org/ has lots of helpful information including crime prevention programs, a list of training webinars and conferences as well as tips from McGruff the Crime Dog. McGruff the Crime Dog has taught millions of people NOT to expect law enforcement to fight crime alone. The NCPC website states that Studies in 1999 and 2000 documented that people who know McGruff are significantly more likely to take measures that reduce the risk of crime. It is worth the visit!
The Office of Justice Programs’ Crime Solutions
CrimeSolutions.gov
uses rigorous research to determine what works in crime solution strategies, criminal justice, juvenile justice, and crime victim services. Their research on program effectiveness is gathered from Expert Reviewers and rate whether a program is effective, promising, or has no effects. Their website has easy to understand ratings based on the evidence that indicates whether a program achieves its goals. Not only does it give a great list of programs available but tells how each program can help you improve your safety.
National Insurance Crime Bureau
The National Insurance Crime Bureau
is a not-for-profit organization that receives support from approximately 1,000 property/casualty insurance companies. The NICB partners with insurers and law enforcement agencies to facilitate the identification, detection and prosecution of insurance criminals. Their website has resources and fact sheets, printable brochures, posters, checklists, and other materials that help educated the public about fraud and crime.
The Disaster Center Crime Reports

has United States crime rate statistics from 1960 to the current year from data received from the FBI. The site also has local township statistics for murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault and property crimes for police department in your town. The local statistics go back to 1980 and are not updated as often as the national statistics, however the information can still be helpful if you would like to see how crime rate changes from year to year.
National Neighborhood Watch Institute

has offered a line of crime-fighting material such as business and neighborhood watch signs and window decals and labels. They also offer advice on how to start a neighbourhood watch scheme and material to support neighbourhood watch programs which includes training materials, window warning decals, worksheets and quality street signs.
